Product Description
An acerbic view of vacationers in Spain, Martin Parr wryly captures telling images of people baking in the sun, gaudily attired or wearing frighteningly little, eating, drinking and smoking, surrounded by all the kitsch and ugly trappings of modern culture. One particular image features one hand holding out a paddle-ball paddle emblazoned with an image of the Spice Girls, while a Speedoed man lopes through the ocean like Bigfoot. Is this the emblem of England's ambassadors to the world? This is all very much quintessential Parr and many of these images have been used in other, more well-known Parr books such as Common Sense. In that same vein, these are fairly lurid images that would be funnier if they weren't so disturbing in their commonality.
